What is AXA Sawasdee Thailand Insurance?

The Sawasdee Thailand Inbound Insurance Policy has been specifically designed for foreigners traveling to Thailand. The policy includes health and personal accident insurance including Covid-19 to 1.75 million THB and meets Thai government requirements for the Certificate of Entry (COE).

Can I buy Sawasdee Thailand if I am already in Thailand?

No, you cannot purchase Sawasdee Thailand if you are already in the country, You can only buy Sawasdee Thailand if you are physically outside of Thailand at the time of policy purchase.

Does AXA Sawasdee Thailand policy extend to outpatient treatment?

The policy covers you for medical expenses up to 1.75 million THB for the whole insurance period. For medical expenses due to sickness which is sudden and unforeseeable during the trip duration, AXA will pay for the medical expenses which are incurred during the policy duration and before the policy expiry date. For medical expenses due to accidents during the trip duration, AXA will pay for the medical expenses which are incurred up to 52 weeks from the date of the accident

Does AXA Sawasdee Thailand policy provide cover during the quarantine period?

Yes, the policy commences after clearing immigration and includes the 7-day or 10-day quarantine period. AXA is one of the few companies to provide coverage if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 regardless of the showing of symptoms during the quarantine period.

Does the Sawasdee Thailand policy cover the cost of the COVID-19 test during the quarantine period?

No, AXA will not pay for the two-times mandatory COVID-19 test during the period of quarantine, regardless of the test results. Usually, these two times mandatory COVID-19 test cost is included in the ASQ/ALSQ package. Also, AXA will not pay for the cost of testing if there was no medical necessity to carry out the COVID-19 test.

Does AXA offer direct billing at hospitals or do I have to pay first for medical treatment?

AXA will settle your claim directly with the hospital if you’re admitted as an inpatient in the AXA hospital network. However, AXA does not offer direct billing for outpatient treatment. In cases of OPD treatment, the client must make payment first and submit a claim for reimbursement with AXA later.

What are the options available for the duration of coverage?

You can choose to purchase a policy of 30, 60, 90, 180, 270, and 365 days.
If the exact number of days of coverage that you are looking for is not available, please purchase the next available option. e.g. if you require cover for 100 days, please choose the option of 180 days.

Does AXA Sawasdee Thailand policy include cover for motorcycle accidents?

Yes, AXA Sawasdee Insurance includes cover for accidents and motorcycle accidents.

When will I receive my certificate of coverage?

Purchase online with any major credit card and COVID 19 insurance certificate of coverage will be sent via email within minutes after payment is processed

What is the refund policy?

You can cancel the policy and get a full refund if the Royal Thai Embassy/Royal Thai Consulates does not accept AXA Sawasdee Thailand insurance. However, you must provide AXA with proof of the Embassy’s requirements which indicates that AXA Sawasdee Thailand is not acceptable. Alternatively, you can change the original start date to a later date provided you are still abroad and the request is made before the original policy start date.

Can I change my policy start date?

Yes, you can change the start date to an earlier or a later date provided you are still abroad and the request is made before the original policy start (in case of postponing start date) or before the new policy start date (in case of advancing the start date). Please allow 1-3 working days to receive the revised policy documents. Changes to your policy start date on or after the original policy start date cannot be made.
